Homemade Lentil Tofu

If you're looking for a plant-based, budget-friendly, and nutritious alternative, this homemade lentil tofu is an amazing option.
Unlike traditional tofu, this version is made with lentils and just a few ingredients, resulting in a firm texture that can be sliced and pan-fried. It’s a versatile recipe, rich in plant-based protein, and perfect for adding to stir-fries, salads, or bowls.
You can also make it in advance and keep it ready to use throughout the week.

Ingredients
1 cup raw lentils (soaked overnight)
1 cup water
½ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon paprika
½ teaspoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon nutritional yeast
Oil for greasing the dish
Instructions
1. Soak the lentils
Soak the lentils overnight.
2. Blend
Drain the lentils and place them in a blender with water, salt, paprika, garlic powder, and nutritional yeast. Blend until smooth and lump-free.
3. Cook the mixture
Pour the mixture into a pot and cook over medium-high heat for about 8 minutes, stirring constantly until it thickens into a firm, creamy texture.
Helpful Tip: Keep stirring to prevent sticking or clumping.
4. Shape
Transfer the mixture into a greased baking dish (like a Pyrex) and smooth the surface.
5. Chill
Refrigerate for at least 24–48 hours until fully set and firm.
6. Cut and brown
Unmold and cut into cubes or sticks. Pan-fry with a little oil and soy sauce until golden and crispy on the outside.
Use it in stir-fries, bowls, or as a plant-based protein replacement in any dish.
